  • This is an excellent question. The short answer? You won’t know unless you try. Finding a mental health practitioner who you are able to “click” with will be a vital factor for change.

    Shared values underpin any relationship which is why ours are listed on this site. If you share our values, there is a good chance that we will work well together.

  • Ideally, the least amount of sessions possible for you to recoup and move forwards in your life with the confidence and skills gained from engaging in therapy.

  • Partners and families are often the most important social support network for someone struggling with their mental health. Although we do not currently offer couples or family therapy, organising a consultation with you and your significant other(s) may be negotiated.

  • Absolutely. Having training and experience in the Medical industry has offered crucial insight into the daily lives of the clinicians on the front line. If our current availability does not suit you, please enquire via email or our contact us form on the homepage.

  • Medications can be beneficial for reducing symptoms of mental illness such as low mood, anxiety and sleep regulation, however, the combination of medication and therapy has proven to be the most effective strategy at managing mental wellness.

  • There are few presentations that require medication in combination with therapy to assist in symptom relief and increase quality of life. If medication might be indicated, we will discuss this with you and a letter will be sent to your GP outlining your management to date. Please note, it is up to the discretion of your GP to decide whether or not medication is indicated.

  • Yes, whichever is your preferred modality

  • Humans are far too unique and have differing circumstances so there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Having said that, there are a few types that are often implemented when curating your management including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy and Gratitude practice.

    This will be alongside optimising your eating and nutrional habits, exercise and sleep regulation.

  • Unfortunately, the title Counsellor is not protected. This means that technically anyone can claim to be a counsellor. This poses a significant risk to the public.

    The counselling industry is self-regulated, and the chief organization is the Australian Counselling Association (ACA). Not every counsellor is eligible for ACA membership as it depends on your professional training and experience.

    The ACA commit to:

    i) Monitoring, maintaining, improving and enforcing professional standards in counsellor education and practice;

    ii) Being a self-regulatory body for the provision of membership to student and professional Registered Counsellors;

    iii) To liaise with regulatory agencies in advocating for members.
